Let’s take a moment to enjoy this amazing production of Die ägyptische Helena at the met starring two amazing ladies, Deborah Voigt and Diana Damrau.
Great to see Debbie Voigt here (she’s a member of our honorary board)!
Let us know what you think about this. Is Mr. Gelb’s insistence that Opera News no longer review Met productions censorship? Or does his assertion that a Met-related publication should not review its parent company hold true to you?
Find out what Andrew Lunsford, one of Opera New Jersey’s 2011 Emerging Artists, is up to:
Since my time in ONJ I have performed in several concerts and operas. Including reprising my role of Faust in Denver, CO, and singing the role of the Italian Tenor in Strauss’ Der Rosenkavalier (that has to be the best gig ever by the way).
This summer I will be a young artist with Utah Festival Opera, where I will be singing the role of Spoletta in Tosca, while covering the roles of Cavaradossi and Faust. It will be a wonderful and very busy summer.
I learned so much during my time at ONJ that I attribute much of my growth as a musician and artist to the many things that I experienced while there.
I want to thank everyone involved at ONJ for the opportunity to learn from them, and I hope very much to be able to work with them again in the future.

THE WANTON SUBLIME
Music by Tarik O’Regan
Libretto by Anna Rabinowitz
The Wanton Sublime, an AOP-commission from Tarik O’Regan and Anna Rabinowitz, explores the human and mythic aspects of the iconic Virgin Mary. It raises questions about her role as the “eternal feminine”, while casting light on her struggles with timeless issues of gender and male power.
Tarik recently had the opening of Heart of Darkness, his first opera (development by AOP) based on Joseph Conrad’s novel of the same name, at the Royal Opera House (London) and the release of Acallam Na Senórach, his third album on the Harmonia Mundi label.
